Who We Are
Old Fashioned Candies is a family-run business serving the Chicagoland area since 1969. Founded in Chicago and later established in Berwyn, we continue to operate there today. The company is currently second-generation owned, with third-generation family members actively involved in the business. Products are made in-house and sold directly through our shops.
Our History
- 1969Founded in Chicago by George and Theresa Brunslik.
- 1976Relocated to Berwyn, Illinois.
- 1994Celebrated 25 years in business.
- 2003Second location opened in Indian Head Park, Illinois.
- 2014Production paused following a neighboring fire in January; reopened in October.
- 2019Celebrated 50 years in business.

Awarded annually by the BDC and the City of Berwyn to individuals selected for recognition of their business achievements and/or their contribution to the city’s economic vitality. This award celebrates Berwyn’s “Business Person of the Year” and their exceptional contribution of time, talent, and treasures to the betterment of the community.
Joseph R. Biden Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award (2024)
This national honor recognizes Old Fashioned Candies for a lifetime of commitment to building a stronger community through service, leadership, and long-standing contribution. Presented with grateful recognition by AmeriCorps and the Office of the President of the United States of America.
